Finance
Abstract
Information on expenditure on children's services is captured in the annual children's services mapping exercise. As commissioners, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and local authorities are asked to provide details each year of the actual spend during the previous financial year and their predicted spend during the current financial year. In submitting this information, commissioners are asked to indicate the type of commissioning arrangements in place, what type of services are commissioned and with which provider agencies. As a result, investment can be reported by the type of commissioning arrangement and the service area invested in.
Data issues
Finance tables can be run by SHA, PCT or local authority only. Although response rates from PCTs are consistently high, there are gaps in finance data and therefore the reports should be read with care. Local authority data for 2008/09 is only partial as few local authorities were able to include finance data in their submissions.
